nuclease target site |
ID (Ontology) |
FBcv:0005080 (FlyBase CV) |
Definition |
A recognition site for a site-specific DNA nuclease, an enzyme that catalyzes hydrolysis of DNA in a site-specific manner. The DNA cutting stimulates cellular repair mechanisms, which can be exploited to produce genome modifications. For example, repair by homologous recombination in the presence of an exogenous template can be used to introduce targeted changes into the genome.[ FlyBase:FBrf0231034 ] |
