Definition |
Adult subesophageal zone intrinsic neuron whose soma is located in the lateral gnathal ganglion (Flood et al., 2013). The primary neurite extends ventromedially into the gnathal ganglion and splits into several dendritic branches that form a dense network of arborization medial to the axonal arbors (Flood et al., 2013). This arborization is predominantly ipsilateral, but dendrites may spread into the contralateral hemisphere (Flood et al., 2013). It is involved in inducing the proboscis extension reflex and might also be involved in regulating consumption (Flood et al., 2013; Pool et al., 2014; Shiu et al., 2022). There is one of these neurons in each hemisphere (Flood et al., 2013). It is predicted to be cholinergic (Shiu et al., 2022).[ FlyBase:FBrf0222061 FlyBase:FBrf0225542 FlyBase:FBrf0251280 FlyBase:FBrf0254006 ] |
