Ferris, 1950, presents two nomenclatures. In one, the lobe at the posterior base is referred to as the alar lobe, in the other, it is referred to as the alula. In this second nomenclature, alula is used for the posterior articular membrane of the hinge, the posterior margin of which is the axillary cord. We follow the first of these two nomenclatures, as does Bryant, 1975. |
