Term |
lobula columnar neuron LC5 |
ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00003875 (Fly Anatomy) |
Definition |
Lobula columnar neuron that branches in lobula layer 5 with the branches forming fine terminal arbors in lobula layers 4, 5 and 6. It seems to be capable of both glutamatergic and GABAergic neurotransmission.[ FlyBase:FBrf0049410 FlyBase:FBrf0213690 FlyBase:FBrf0220286 ] |
Also Known As |
"LC5" ; "lobula columnar neuron Lcn5" ; "lobular columnar neuron Lcn5" |
Comment |
The glutamate neurotransmitter was assessed by labelling cells with a vGlut[CNSIII]-GAL4 driver (FBti0129148) (Raghu and Borst, 2011). The GABA neurotransmitter was assessed by the intersection of the expression of the VGAT-GAL4 driver (FBtp0069181) and an antibody against GABA (Raghu et al., 2013). Pre- versus postsynaptic innervation judged by scoring of terminal morphology from figures in Fischbach and Dittrich (1989) as assessed by FlyBrain Neuron DB. |
