A loxP-flanked cassette containing a Disc\RFP3xP3.cUa marker and tubulin 3'UTR is inserted into endogenous Sirt6; 'bck' signifies backcrossing to w1118.
Sirt6bck-L1/Sirt6bck-L1 mutants show accelerated larval development, with increased larval size and weight, and early pupation. Adults also exhibit increased body weight and size; wings are enlarged; mitochondrial (DNA) content is decreased.
Sirt6bck-L1/Sirt6bck-L1 adults show progressive sensitivity to starvation (i.e. in 22-25-days old adults, but not in young adults), as well as a progressive decrease in climbing ability (i.e. in 10-12 and 35-37 days old adults, but not in 3-5 days old adults)
Sirt6bck-L1/Sirt6bck-L1 adults expressing Sirt6UAS.Tag:FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI show increased climbing ability compared to controls.
