UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a DsRed(Unk) fluorescent protein. A genomic fragment containing the mir-284 pre-miRNA hairpin has been inserted into the DsRed(Unk) 3'UTR.
Animals expressing mir-284Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 die as second and third instar larvae.
Females expressing mir-284Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 have spoon shaped wings with the ends curved up, while males have wings which are curved along all their length and are folded. Wing blistering is seen in both sexes.
Expression of mir-284Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 does not result in a mutant phenotype.
Expression of mir-284Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 results in wing notching.
